'The Voice' Interviews: Finding Success in Europe2015.10.01. 09:36, barbee-bius
Night four of the Blind Auditions for The Voice featured the second duo act of season 9, along with many other talented solo artists. The coaches are starting to get more picky with who they'll turn their chairs for, but nine more spots were filled nonetheless.
BuddyTV spoke with those advancing artists during a conference call. Some of them discussed leaving their bands to become solo artists (or a duo, in the case of Andi and Alex) on The Voice. Viktor Kiraly explained why he's taking a big risk by leaving Hungary to do this show. And they described their experience of auditioning for The Voice -- which artist didn't understand what Gwen Stefani told him until he watched it on TV? Read on to find out.
Viktor Kiraly had already found success even before being on The Voice. As viewers may remember, Viktor shared that he moved to his parents' home country, Hungary, as a teenager; he became well-known there from his music.
But he admits that this new venture of coming back to the United States and trying out for The Voice was a "risky situation because if I don't do well, if I don't get any chairs to turn, then it might be embarrassing to go back to a country where people already somewhat know my name." Fortunately, all four coaches hit their buttons, and he went with Adam.
Viktor went on to say that he does all of this because he's passionate about music, not due to any fame he's had or may have in the future. "I do it for the music. I don't do it for the fame. I don't do it for the radio play or anything like that. Of course, if it comes with it, it's fantastic and you're respected for what you do." Viktor added that because he doesn't have an American audience, "It's actually a liberating feeling" to "get back to the roots, start on zero and build myself up."
